Biffa Polymers announced the acquisition of Esterpet Ltd, a PET plastic recycler with a facility near Leeds that converts 25,000 tonnes of plastic flakes a year into pellets. The deal extends Biffa's recycled PET capability.

Spanish carton maker Hinojosa Packaging entered exclusive negotiations to acquire a 49% stake in French corrugated packaging maker ASV Packaging, which has 210 employees and 64 million euros in revenue. The deal would also give the two groups joint control of Halopack tray production in Iberia and France.

Thai packaging company BGC Container Glass agreed to buy 100% of Prime Packaging, a Thai maker of flexible plastic packaging and film rolls, for 580 million baht funded by bank loans. The share purchase agreement was signed on 28 February 2023, and revenue is expected from Q2 2023.

Ardagh Metal Packaging acquired a majority share in Switzerland-based digital can printer NOMOQ, a start-up founded in 2021. The deal extends AMP's support for newcomers to the beverage market and gives its European customers access to digital can printing.

COFCO Packaging signed a framework agreement with Haoneng (Hong Kong) and Ourgold Development to form a joint venture in Hong Kong for a second aluminum two-piece can plant in Central and Eastern Europe. The JV has registered capital of EUR 22.3 million, split 40%, 30% and 30%.

Spanish packaging group Hinojosa Packaging has sold its Cipasi business, a cellular polypropylene producer based in Masamagrell, Valencia, to Italian group Karton. Cipasi had 2021 revenue of EUR 9 million and 38 employees, all of whom Karton will retain; the value was not disclosed.

Fundermax took over 100% of Hubregtse B.V., Papiboard B.V. and West Pack Emballasje AS from the Dutch Hubregtse group, effective 3 January 2023. The businesses have about 50 employees and make solid board packaging for the fish industry in the Netherlands and Norway.

Sonoco has signed a definitive agreement to acquire S.P. Holding, Skjern A/S, a Danish paperboard manufacturer, in an all-cash deal estimated at $88 million (675 million DKK).

Sealed Air, which is rebranding as SEE, completed its $1.15 billion purchase of Liquibox, a maker of bag-in-box fluids and liquids packaging, during the first quarter of 2023.

Stora Enso completed its acquisition of Netherlands-based corrugated packaging producer De Jong Packaging Group, with an enterprise value of about EUR 1,020 million. The deal adds roughly 1,200 million m2 of corrugated packaging capacity to Stora Enso.
