Canadian rotating equipment services company Blackstone Industrial Services has closed its acquisition of Nuovo Parts Inc., a North American distributor of Nuovo Pignone and GE spare parts, based in Surrey, B.C. The deal was announced on January 26, 2018.

Deschenes Group Inc. acquired Corix Water Products, a division of Corix Infrastructure, effective January 1, 2018. The deal adds 55 sales outlets, including 12 in the U.S., and pushes Deschenes past the billion-dollar sales mark.

Current Water Technologies Inc. closed its acquisition of 100% of Pumptronics Incorporated, paying $700,000 cash, a $100,000 deposit credit, a $400,000 promissory note and 12 million shares.

Canadian compressor services company Ironline Compression acquired Calgary-based Protech Compression Services in January 2018, with backing from private equity partner Staple Street Capital. Protech provides engine and compressor overhaul services in Alberta.

OMERS and Berkshire agreed to sell Husky to Platinum Equity for $3.85 billion. Husky makes injection molding systems.

Xylem agreed to acquire all shares of Pure Technologies, a leader in leak detection and infrastructure assessment for water networks, for CAD $9.00 per share in cash, an enterprise value of CAD $509 million (USD $397 million).

Cascades is acquiring four containerboard packaging plants in Ontario from the Coyle family, adding about 500 million square feet of annual capacity. The total cost of the transaction, including its Greenpac and Tencorr stakes, is C$49 million.

Cascades Inc. acquired four Ontario plants from the Coyle family: McLeish Corr-a-Box, Brown Packaging, Coyle Corrugated Containers and Coyle Packaging. Consideration was CAD 28 million including CAD 4 million assumed debt, completed on 4 December 2017.

Fuller Industrial, an Ontario pipe spool and rubber lining maker, merged with Alberta-based ACR Group to form ACR Fuller; FirePower Capital advised on the deal, which closed in September 2017.

TricorBraun, a St. Louis packaging company, acquired Taipak, a flexible packaging provider headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. It is TricorBraun's first move into flexible packaging, and Taipak will be renamed Taipak, A TricorBraun Company.

TC Transcontinental acquired Montréal-based flexible packaging converter Les Industries Flexipak Inc., which employs 55 people, extending its packaging footprint to Eastern Canada.

Graphic Packaging will run a new paper-based packaging partnership with International Paper's Consumer Packaging business, holding 79.5% while IP keeps 20.5%. The partnership is valued at about $6bn and will assume $660m of IP debt.

BDG & Associés and the Fonds de solidarité FTQ acquired Plastube Inc., a Granby, Quebec manufacturer of extruded and decorated plastic tubes for cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food and industrial markets. Plastube employs about 130 people.

Toromont Industries agreed to buy privately held Hewitt Group, operator of 45 Caterpillar dealerships in Quebec, the Maritimes, Labrador West and Ontario, for about C$1.02 billion in cash and shares, expected to close by mid-October.

Mill Street has acquired Nottawasaga Mechanical, a provider of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning services, as reported on 2017-08-04.

Royal Containers announced the acquisition of corrugated packaging manufacturer Rexdale Container Corp., based in the Greater Toronto Area, to increase capacity and geographic presence in Southern Ontario.

Supremex has completed its acquisition of Montreal-based folding carton maker Stuart Packaging for $17.5 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis, plus $2.1 million payable over 24 months subject to targets.

AFGlobal, a Houston oil and gas OEM, acquired Advanced Measurement Inc., a Calgary-based provider of automation, controls and data management systems, previously a subsidiary of Key Energy Services. The deal was announced July 6, 2017.

TricorBraun, a St. Louis packaging company, agreed to acquire Salbro Bottle, a Woodbridge, Ontario maker of plastic and glass containers and closures. No financial terms were disclosed. The announcement was made on June 26, 2017.

Edmonton-based Jet Label & Packaging acquired United Label Company of Coquitlam, British Columbia, in summer 2017. The deal expands Jet Label's mass-market retail customer base and adds production capacity, with new machinery planned for 2018.

Rayonier Advanced Materials agreed to acquire Tembec in a deal with a purchase price of about US$807 million including US$487 million of net debt assumed, with Tembec shareholders receiving C$4.05 cash or shares.

Trican Well Service agreed to acquire all shares of Canyon Services Group in an all-share arrangement valued at about $637 million including $40 million of Canyon debt. Canyon shareholders will hold about 44% of the combined company.

NIBE Industrier acquired 50% of the shares in heat pump company CGC Group of Companies, which has a manufacturing facility in Fergus, Ontario, with an option to buy the rest by spring 2022. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Mueller Water Products agreed to acquire Singer Valve, a Surrey, British Columbia maker of automatic control valves, for C$34 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in Mueller's fiscal second quarter of 2017.

Envelope maker Supremex agreed to acquire Montreal-based corrugator Durabox Paper, which runs a 50-person corrugated box plant in Lachine, Quebec; the price was not disclosed, announced November 28, 2016.

TC Transcontinental acquired all shares of Flexstar Packaging, a Richmond, British Columbia flexible packaging converter with over 120 employees and about C$36 million in revenue. The deal was announced on October 17, 2016.

Give & Go Prepared Foods completed its acquisition of Toronto-based Create-a-Treat Ltd., NAFTA Foods and Packaging Inc. and related entities on July 29, 2016, concurrent with its acquisition by Thomas H. Lee Partners. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Wolseley Industrial Canada announced the sale of its Engineered Pipe Group to Emco Corp. Emco acquires the HDPE pipe, fittings, flanges and fabricated vessels business. The deal was reported on 2015-07-17.
