Belgian transmission system operator Elia has officially inaugurated its new modular offshore grid (MOG) platform, located 40 km off the coast. The platform links the 309 MW Rentel and 219 MW Northwester 2 offshore wind farms to the mainland.
Elia awarded all main construction contracts for the Modular Offshore Grid (MOG) project, totaling €400 million. Contracts include detailed design by Ramboll, fabrication by Heerema Fabrication Group, electrical equipment by Siemens, and cable installation by Dredging International. The offshore hub will connect four wind farms and is scheduled to go live by September 2019.
Siemens secured a €273m contract to deliver two HVDC converter stations for the ALEGrO interconnector between Germany and Belgium, awarded by Amprion and Elia.
