Smurfit Kappa and WestRock announced a merger creating Smurfit WestRock, which will be domiciled in Ireland with global headquarters in Dublin. Smurfit Kappa shareholders will hold 50.4% and WestRock shareholders 49.6%, with closing expected in Q2 2024 subject to regulatory approval.

Packaging Holdings announced the bolt-on acquisition of Ace Corrugated, a corrugated box maker based in Cavan. It is part of two bolt-on deals with a combined outlay of over EUR 11 million.

Sealed Air has announced the acquisition of Foxpak Flexibles, a digital-printing flexible packaging firm based in Collon, Ireland with 33 employees. The fee was undisclosed.

SEE (NYSE: SEE) announced the acquisition of Foxpak Flexibles Ltd., a privately owned Irish digital-print flexible packaging company with 33 employees, under its SEE Ventures initiative. Terms were not disclosed.

Irish packaging company Zeus announced a deal to buy Limerick Packaging, a corrugated packaging supplier to the industrial and transit packaging market, in Ireland. The sale is subject to approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

US-based ProAmpac Holdings acquired RA Pacaisti Teo from Ludgate Investments, with plans to expand manufacturing of primary packaging for ready-to-eat foods. The company keeps its Donegal and London operations and terms were not disclosed.

Bunzl agreed to acquire Abco Kovex, a Dublin-based distributor of flexible packaging with UK operations and 2019 revenue of EUR 23 million. Completion is subject to clearance by the Irish competition authority.

Hong Kong-based GPA Global has acquired Ireland-based Lucas Luxury Packaging and Lucas Promotions, packaging and promotional item companies serving the spirits and beverage industries. The fee was not disclosed.

Finnish packaging firm Huhtamaki acquired a 70% stake in Ennis-based paper cup maker CupPrint for EUR 22 million on a debt-free basis. The deal was reported on May 31, 2018.
