BUTEC has been awarded a major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by a consortium of Nareva, Kanadevia Inova and Itochu Corporation to build a large-scale waste-to-energy facility in Casablanca, Morocco. The plant will process 1.5 million tonnes of non-recyclable waste per year and generate 126 MW of electricity.
Nareva Holding and Taqa Morocco plan to create a joint venture called Tahaddart 2 & 3 to build a new combined-cycle power station near the existing Tahaddart site. The project will have two units with total capacity of 1,000-1,400 MW.
Nareva Holding and Taqa Morocco plan to jointly acquire at least 85% of Energie Electrique de Tahaddart, which operates the 400MW Tahaddart combined-cycle gas power plant in northern Morocco. Each partner would hold 42.5%.
ONEE, Nareva and GE Vernova signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct a feasibility study to convert the 99 MW Laâyoune Thermal Power Plant in Morocco from heavy fuel oil to hydrogen, potentially the first such conversion in Africa.
