Chantiers de l'Atlantique, with GE Grid Solutions and SDI, was awarded a contract by Eoliennes Offshore des Hautes Falaises and Eoliennes Offshore du Calvados to design, manufacture and install electrical substations for the Fécamp and Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farms off Normandy, France.
Chantiers de l'Atlantique cut the first steel for the electrical substation (S34) for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm, the first in France. The substation will be delivered in 2021 for the 480 MW park developed by EDF and Enbridge.
Fincantieri acquired an effective 51% stake in STX France (now Chantiers de l'Atlantique), with Naval Group holding a 10% share. The two companies plan to form a joint venture under the 'Poseidon' project to reinforce naval cooperation.
