Vestas announced plans to invest in a new turbine assembling and testing facility in Geelong, Australia, at the former Ford Motor factory. The facility will serve Tilt Renewables' Dundonnell wind farm and Global Power Generation's Berrybank wind farm, and will involve a partnership with Marand Precision Engineering.
Construction has commenced on the 180MW Berrybank Wind Farm in Western Victoria. The $276 million project will use 43 Vestas turbines, with towers supplied by Keppel Prince in a $30 million contract, and create 213 construction jobs.
Vestas partnered with Marand Precision Engineering to build a $3.5 million wind turbine component factory at the former Ford Motors site in Geelong, Australia, creating about 20 direct jobs. The factory will produce drivetrains and hubs for two nearby wind farms.
