Maple Leaf Foods

Harpak-ULMA has partnered with Maple Leaf Foods to pilot smart, connected packaging solutions using augmented reality and remote monitoring technologies from Rockwell Automation and PTC. The pilot started in May 2021 and is expected to be in full production in October 2021.

Maple Leaf Foods will open a $660-million chicken processing plant in London, Ontario, employing 1,450 people, with operations expected to start in 2021.

Maple Leaf Foods is investing $660 million in a new state-of-the-art poultry processing facility in London, Ontario, supported by a $28 million government investment. The facility will create 300 construction jobs and employ 1,340 full-time workers by 2023.

Maple Leaf Foods signed a definitive agreement to acquire VIAU, a Canadian leader in premium Italian cooked and dry-cured meats and charcuterie, for a purchase price of $215 million including $30 million in Maple Leaf shares.
