Guangzhou CanSemi Technology announced it will increase investment and expand production in 2020, after its first-quarter output exceeded expectations by 25%. The company operates a 12-inch wafer fab in Guangzhou.

CanSemi Technology Inc. has put into operation a 12-inch wafer production line in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. The first phase, with a total investment of 28.8 billion yuan ($4.06 billion), began construction in March 2018 and started operation on September 20, 2019, targeting a monthly capacity of 40,000 wafers.

CanSemi Technology broke ground on a 300mm wafer fab in December 2017 with 7 billion yuan (about $1 billion) investment. The fab will make chips using 0.18-micron to 0.13-micron processes, with first wafers expected in 2019 and capacity of 40,000 wafer starts per month.
