The SHS – Stahl-Holding-Saar Group awarded contracts to Primetals Technologies, Midrex Technologies Inc., and DSD Steel Group for a direct reduction plant, and to Primetas Technologies/DSD Steel Group and SMS Group for two electric arc furnaces, as part of the Power4Steel decarbonization project in Saarland, Germany.

The French Competition Authority cleared the acquisition of steel companies Liberty Ascoval and Liberty Rail Hayange by the German Saarstahl Group, following a conciliation procedure opened by the commercial court of Paris.

SMS group has won a contract to build a replacement 5-strand billet caster for Saarstahl AG at its Völklingen plant, designed to produce 850,000 tons of 180 mm square billets annually.

Saarstahl AG granted final acceptance to SMS group for the expansion of the high-capacity wire rod mill at the Burbach location. The modernization included adding two stands to the roughing mill, a shear, a four-strand switch and a pinch roll unit, enabling larger initial pass sections.
