Yaskawa Electric acquired Siemens AG's stake in the joint venture YaskawaSiemens Automation & Drives (YSAD), making it a wholly-owned subsidiary renamed Yaskawa Automation Drives (YAD), effective November 1, 2018.

Yaskawa Electric Corporation began full-fledged operations at Yaskawa Solution Factory, a next-generation production plant at its Iruma Plant in Saitama Prefecture. The plant will manufacture the Σ-7 AC servo drive series and serve as an IoT validation plant.

Yaskawa Electric Corporation signed a share transfer agreement on July 12, 2018 to acquire all shares held by Siemens in the joint venture Yaskawa Siemens Automation Drive (YSAD), making it a wholly owned subsidiary effective November 1, 2018. The new company will be named Yaskawa Automation Drive (YAD).

Yaskawa (China) Robotics Co., Ltd. opened the second phase of its robot production base in Changzhou, China. The expansion increases total investment by $45 million and annual capacity to 18,000 units.

Yaskawa announced it will build a new factory in Kocevje, Slovenia, to produce inverter drives, servo drives and servo motors. The investment is valued at approximately €25 million ($30 million) and is expected to create up to 250 jobs.

Yaskawa Dürr Robot Application Equipment (Beijing) Co., Ltd. held a grand opening ceremony for its new factory in Xianghe Robot Town on May 8, 2018, and began production. The factory includes pre-assembly lines, R&D labs, training facilities and a tech exhibition hall.

Yaskawa will increase monthly output at its plant in Jiangsu Province from 1,200 to 1,500 units per month to meet demand from Chinese electronics manufacturers. The expansion is set for completion towards the end of next year.

Yaskawa broke ground on November 2, 2017, for a new robot factory in Kočevje, Slovenia, with an investment of about €25 million. The plant will manufacture Motoman robots starting in 2018 and create around 200 new jobs.

Yaskawa Nordic AB has started construction to expand its manufacturing unit in Torsås, Sweden. The company signed a contract with Åkesson Bygg AB to begin the building work.

Yaskawa announced investments of EUR 10 million in Europe: a new 6,700 m2 building in Nantes, France to consolidate Drives, Motion, Control and Robotics operations, and expansion in Torsås, Sweden with a new 2,600 m2 factory hall and 300 m2 of office space. Completion is planned for the end of 2018.

Yaskawa Electric plans to more than double its industrial robot output at its facility in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, China.

Yaskawa Nordic AB is investing approximately SEK 40 million to expand its manufacturing unit in Torsås, Sweden, by 2,000 square meters. Construction will start immediately and is expected to be completed by summer 2018.

Yaskawa Electric Corporation will build a €25 million plant for industrial robots in Kočevje, Slovenia. Construction is expected to start in summer 2017, with regular production beginning in 2019. The plant will employ over 200 workers and have an initial capacity of 4,000 robots per year.

Yaskawa Electric announced its subsidiary Yaskawa Electric (Shenyang) will build a third factory in Shenyang, China, to increase production capacity for servo motors and servo amplifiers. The factory is scheduled to begin operation in spring 2018.

Yaskawa Electric Corp. announced plans to build a robot plant in Ribnica, Slovenia, to serve European, Middle Eastern and African markets. The facility will produce Motoman robots and is expected to begin production in September 2018, creating about 200 jobs.

Yaskawa plans to expand production capacities and open a new robot manufacturing plant and a European robotics development centre in Slovenia. Total investments are estimated at 25 million euros, creating 200 jobs. First robots from all-European production expected in 2018.

Yaskawa Electric Corp. will double the output of its first overseas production base in Nanjing, China, by increasing monthly production from 500 to 1,000 units by 2018. The company added $15 million to registered capital and will embark on a $45 million expansion project.
