GlobalFoundries starts expansion of Dresden chip plant with €1.1B investment

GlobalFoundries officially began expanding its Dresden facility on March 17, 2026, as part of the SPRINT project. The €1.1 billion investment will increase production capacity by over 110,000 wafers per year by end of 2028, expanding cleanroom and lab space by about 10% to 65,000 m².
