SMC Diode Solutions inaugurated its second power discrete fab in Nanjing, China, covering 300,000 square feet. Volume production began in September 2024, with shipping of high-power and high-voltage rectifiers starting in Q4 2024. The $3 billion RMB investment quadruples total production capacity to over 1.2 million wafers annually and creates 300 new jobs.

SMC Diode Solutions celebrated the opening of its second power discrete fab in Nanjing, China. The 300,000-square-foot facility will produce 1.2 million silicon wafers and 60,000 silicon carbide wafers per year, quadrupling total production. Volume production began 21 months after groundbreaking in September 2022, with shipments starting Q4 2024.
