Bakelite Synthetics

Bakelite Synthetics announced a definitive agreement to acquire LRBG Chemicals, a Canadian resin manufacturer with facilities in Longueuil, Quebec. The acquisition expands Bakelite's footprint into Canada.

Bakelite Synthetics closed its purchase of Georgia-Pacific Chemicals, gaining complementary resin and formaldehyde technology and 11 chemical facilities in the US and South America employing about 600 people. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bakelite Synthetics will buy the formaldehyde-based phenolic resins business of Georgia-Pacific for an undisclosed sum. The business employs 600 people and operates 10 plants in North and South America.
