Invertek Drives

Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI) finalized a £100 million deal to acquire Invertek Drives Ltd, a Welsh manufacturer of variable frequency drives. The acquisition will support SHI's international growth strategy and lead to investment in Invertek's development in Mid Wales.

Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd acquired the entire share capital of Invertek Drives Ltd, a UK-based manufacturer of variable frequency drives. The deal is expected to lead to significant investment in Invertek's growth and development in Mid Wales.

Invertek Drives opened a new 5,500 square metre global manufacturing and distribution facility in Welshpool, UK, enabling production of up to 400,000 VFDs per year. The facility also incorporated two Universal Robots UR5 collaborative robots for product testing.
