Nidec Machine Tool (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new factory in Pinghu Economic Development Zone, with a total investment of $44 million, to produce machine tools for EV drive components.

Nidec announced it will convert its Komagane, Nagano facility into a gear motor factory for machine tools and industrial equipment, investing JPY 16 billion in two phases. Phase 1 starts April 2023 with 360,000 units/year capacity; Phase 2 adds 240,000 units/year by April 2024. Full capacity of 600,000 units/year and 750 employees expected by end of 2025.

Nidec-Shimpo Corporation formally launched its manufacturing plant in Subic Bay Freeport, Philippines, to produce high-precision speed reducers for robotics. Initial production is 10,000-25,000 units per month, targeting 100,000 units per month by end of 2019 and 120,000 by March 2020.
