MetalX is expanding its aluminum operations in Waterloo, Indiana, with a new wheel processing and melting line starting in December. The company also reduced staffing by 20-25% and idled its Waterloo shredder due to market conditions.
MetalX has assumed responsibility for sourcing, procurement, delivery, and administration of aluminum scrap and refined aluminum products for Busche Performance Group's two aluminum foundries in Franklin, Indiana and Fruitport, Michigan. The deal covers up to 70 million lbs/year of aluminum raw material.
MetalX announced plans to construct a new scrap processing plant in Delta, Ohio, with an investment of $35 million. The initial phase will employ nearly 80 people and have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year, with construction expected to start in fall 2017 and operations in 12 months.
