Abbott Medical Optics

Abbott Medical Optics Ltd (AMO) will invest US$60 million to set up its first manufacturing facility in Malaysia, located in Kulim Hi-Tech Park. The plant will produce about one million intraocular lenses per year for the global market and is expected to employ about 500 people.

Johnson & Johnson has completed the acquisition of Abbott Medical Optics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Abbott, for $4.325 billion in cash, expanding into cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery and consumer eye health.
