KEMET Corporation

CFIUS cleared the $1.8 billion acquisition of Kemet Corporation, a US manufacturer of capacitors, by Taiwanese company Yageo. Kemet produces tantalum, aluminum, multilayer ceramic, film, paper, polymer electrolytic, and supercapacitors.

KEMET Corporation stockholders voted to approve the proposed acquisition by Yageo Corporation for $27.20 per share in cash. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2020.

Yageo Corporation will acquire all outstanding shares of KEMET Corporation for $27.20 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.8 billion, including net debt assumption.

KEMET Corporation completed the acquisition of NEC TOKIN Corporation for JPY 16.2 billion (approximately $149.2 million). NEC TOKIN has been renamed TOKIN Corporation.

KEMET Corporation signed a definitive agreement to acquire NEC TOKIN Corporation from NEC Corporation for JPY 6.0 billion (approximately $52.5 million). The acquisition is expected to close on or about April 10, 2017. NEC TOKIN will also sell its EMD division to NTJ Holdings 1 Ltd. for approximately JPY 48.2 billion ($422 million).
