Mitsubishi Rayon

JSR, Ube Industries, and Mitsubishi Rayon agreed to establish a new joint company for their ABS resin businesses, effective October 1, 2017. The new company will be 51% owned by JSR and 49% by UMG ABS (a joint venture of Ube and Mitsubishi Rayon), with a capital of 3 billion yen.

Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites Inc., a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Rayon Co., acquired all shares of Gemini Composites, a design and engineering firm specializing in forged composite technology, effective March 1, 2017.

Mitsubishi Rayon, through its subsidiary MRCFAC, plans to acquire all shares of SGL Carbon Fibers LLC in Evanston, Wyoming, from SGL Group. The acquisition will add 1,000 tonnes of annual carbon fiber capacity and is expected to close by April 2017.
