MODIG and IBARMIA announced a strategic partnership, with MODIG taking a substantial minority stake in IBARMIA, to strengthen their market position in machine tools.

Modig, a Swedish manufacturing solutions provider, announced the strategic acquisition of LiCON, a German manufacturer of high-performance machining centers. LiCON joins Modig Machine Tool and IBARMIA (in which Modig holds a minority stake) in the group.

Shandong Weida Heavy Industry, Shanghai Jiaotong University Zhibang Technology, and Spain's Ibarmia jointly invest 110 billion yuan to build an international high-end CNC five-axis machining center project in Zaozhuang, Shandong. The 447-mu facility will create 900 jobs and produce 85 billion yuan in annual output.

IBARMIA signed an agreement of intent with Shandong Iraeta Heavy Industry Stock Co., Ltd. to create a joint venture to manufacture high-technology machining centers in Guanzhuang, Shandong, China. The new company will be based in a 10,500 m² building.
