The first phase of the Shurandam cement plant in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, was inaugurated with a production capacity of 1,500 tpd (0.5 Mta). The plant represents an investment of approximately $113 million by a private Afghan investor. A second phase to increase capacity to 5,000 tpd is planned.
