Engineering firm Lontra has committed to build a manufacturing facility in Warwickshire, UK, for its Blade industrial compressors, investing £65m by 2021 across this and a further site, backed by Shield Group Engineering, with 75 jobs to be created by 2020 and the first part opening later in 2018.
Lontra has licensed its Blade Compressor technology to Sulzer for production within the municipal and regulated wastewater sector. Aeration equipment using the technology will be sold across 150 countries under a multi-million pound deal.
A consortium led by Lontra has received a £1.5 million Energy Catalyst grant from Innovate UK to apply its Blade Compressor as turbo compounding to improve fuel efficiency of 1MW power generation engines. The project takes the technology through concept to hardware and testing.
