KazMunayGas and Sinopec will jointly study a potential purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) complex at Atyrau, Kazakhstan, with a PET capacity of up to 735,000 metric tons per year.

Sinopec will acquire a 30% stake in Silleno LLP, a joint venture developing a 1.25 million metric tons per year polyethylene complex at Atyrau, Kazakhstan, from KazMunayGas and Sibur. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2024.
