Fortescue took delivery of Australia's first prototype 1.4 MWh battery system for a zero-emissions mining haul truck, developed with Liebherr and WAE Technologies. The battery will be integrated into a 240-tonne truck as part of Fortescue's $6.2 billion decarbonisation strategy.
Fortescue completed the acquisition of Williams Advanced Engineering in March 2022, and the company has now rebranded as WAE Technologies. The new focus includes developing green mining trucks, both battery and hydrogen fuel cell.
