Rolls-Royce SMR Limited

Rolls-Royce SMR announced a shortlist of locations for a new factory to build heavy vessels for its Small Modular Reactor power station. The factory, valued at £100-200 million, will create over 200 jobs and be built once SMRs get approval.

Sheffield Forgemasters has been awarded a £3.7 million contract to make the first forgings for Rolls-Royce SMR's small modular reactors. The forgings will be integral to evaluating manufacturing routes for the SMR programme.

Sheffield Forgemasters signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rolls-Royce SMR Limited to explore long-term collaboration on the supply of nuclear-grade forgings for the UK small modular reactor fleet, which aims to build up to 10 SMRs by 2035.
