Mid and East Antrim Borough Council approved modifications to the turbine hall at Kilroot Power Station, including an extension, heat recovery steam generator and two gas flue stacks, as part of the conversion from coal/oil to gas generation. The investment is part of a £600m overall commitment at Kilroot.

Atlantic Projects Company, a subsidiary of Argan, Inc., has been awarded an engineering and construction services contract from EPUKI to build a 660MW natural gas-fired power plant in Carrickfergus, Belfast, Northern Ireland. The plant will use Siemens Energy gas turbines and is expected to be completed in the latter half of 2023.
