Sri Lanka's Board of Investment signed an agreement with Japanese firm Sugano Packing Materials to set up a plant in Ja-Ela making flexible packaging, mainly flat-bottomed bags for the tea industry. A large pouching machine will be brought to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka's Board of Investment signed an agreement with Sugano Colombo Pvt Ltd, a Japanese-linked firm, to set up a flexible packaging plant in Ja-Ela producing mainly flat-bottomed bags for the tea industry. The agreement was signed on 9 September 2019.
