Puritan Medical Products, with Cianbro Corp., is building a new factory in Pittsfield, Maine, to double its monthly production of coronavirus testing swabs to about 40 million, creating 150 jobs. The $75.5 million project is funded by the Defense Production Act.

Puritan Medical Products, in partnership with Cianbro and Bath Iron Works, will convert a 95,000-square-foot warehouse into a manufacturing facility to double production of COVID-19 testing swabs to 40 million per month. The project is funded by $75.5 million from the CARES Act and will create 150 jobs.
