Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed an EGP 587.4 million contract with a consortium led by Xian Electric Engineering Company (including XD-EGEMAC, Xian XD Switchgear Electric Company, and Saudi Arabian National Contracting Company) to set up a gas-insulated switchgear substation in El-Hawamdia, Giza on a turnkey basis.
The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) awarded a contract worth about $20 million to Elsewedy Electric and XD-EGEMAC for the supply and installation of 17 transformers with a capacity of 175 MVA each. Elsewedy will supply 6 transformers and XD-EGEMAC 11.
EGEMAC will sign a contract with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to establish an electrical substation in Benban with voltage of 500 KV at a cost of EGP 450 million, to be implemented by XD-EGEMAC.
XD-EGEMAC, affiliated with EGEMAC, plans to increase investments in Egypt from $68M to $100M by end of 2019, adding four new factories to its existing two. The factories will produce dry transformers, surge arresters, energy cluster banks, and electrical insulators. Construction is expected to begin in early 2019 and finish by 2021.
XD-EGEMAC will open two new factories in Ain Sokhna, Egypt, in March 2018 with investments of EGP 450 million. One factory will produce gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) up to 500 kV, and the other will produce transformers up to 220 kV with a capacity of 175 megavolt-amperes.
