Walters Group

South Wales-based Walters Group ordered seven new JCB 370X excavators from Holt JCB, among the first of JCB's latest X Series models. The first three machines have already been delivered and are working on highway earthworks projects.

Walters Group has been selected by Algoma Steel to build two new electric-arc furnaces (EAF) in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, replacing existing blast furnace operations. The project will reduce Algoma's carbon footprint by 70% and increase capacity by approximately 1 million tons, to a total of 2.4-3.5 million tons.

Walters Group was awarded the contract to fabricate and erect the main building and dust collection hoods for Algoma Steel's $700 million electric arc steelmaking facility in Sault Ste. Marie. Onsite assembly starts fall 2022 and should finish within a year.

Walters Group acquired 100% ownership of Dave Steel Company, Inc., including its main office and fabrication shop in Asheville, North Carolina and fabrication shop and paint shop in Chesnee, South Carolina.
