The Chicago Transit Authority board selected the joint venture of Fluor Corp. and Walsh Construction Co. for a $1.2 billion contract to engineer, design and build the first phase of the Red Line and Purple Line Modernization Program, including reconstruction of four stations and six miles of track.

LA Sanitation completed an expansion of the Advanced Water Purification Facility at the Terminal Island Water Reclamation Plant in Los Angeles, doubling capacity to 12 million gallons per day of recycled water. The project used a new oxidation process with ultraviolet light and chlorine bleach.
