Axalta announced a 30,000 square foot expansion of its Jacksonville, Texas production facility, increasing liquid industrial coatings capacity by approximately one million gallons annually. The expansion is slated for completion in Q1 2019.

Axalta inaugurated a new coating manufacturing plant in Savli, Vadodara, Gujarat, India on April 4, 2018. The 5,200 square meter plant will double the company's coating manufacturing capacity in India to serve the automotive and industrial sectors.

AkzoNobel confirmed it is in constructive discussions regarding a merger of its Paints & Coatings business with coatings manufacturer Axalta. The deal would combine the third and fourth-largest players in the global coatings market.

Dutch paints and coatings company Akzo Nobel has approached U.S. rival Axalta Coating Systems to discuss a possible merger that would create a global coatings giant. The talks are in early stages and there is no certainty a deal will be reached.

Axalta has acquired Plascoat Systems, a UK-based company, from its parent company International Process Technologies (IPT). Terms were not disclosed.

Axalta's three premium refinish brands (Cromax, Spies Hecker, Standox) received approval for use by Volkswagen Group Italia under a new three-year agreement. Axalta will also provide color management and technical services.
