Siemens AG has made a substantial investment in EmberClear Corp.'s proposed $1 billion natural-gas power plant near Pawnee, Illinois. The investment, made through Siemens USA, positions Sangamon County as the likely first site for the project, which still requires regulatory approvals.

Tokyo-based Sojitz Corp. acquired a 33.33% equity stake in Birdsboro Power LLC, which is building a $600 million combined-cycle natural gas power plant in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania. The plant will have a total output of 488 MW and is scheduled for completion by mid-2019.

GE received an order for a single shaft engineered equipment package including a 7HA.02 gas turbine, steam turbine, and HRSG for Ares EIF's Birdsboro Power combined-cycle plant in Pennsylvania. GE also co-lead arranged financing. The 488 MW plant is expected to begin commercial operation in 2019.
