SIMEC has signed a conditional agreement to acquire 49.9% of Atlantis Resources' share capital. Atlantis will also acquire SIMEC Uskmouth Power Limited, owner of a 336MW power plant in South Wales.

GFG Alliance member companies SIMEC and Liberty House agreed to purchase a hydro-power and aluminium smelting operation at Lochaber in the Scottish Highlands from Rio Tinto Aluminium for £330 million. The deal includes hydro plants at Lochaber and Kinlochleven, a Lochaber aluminium smelter, and a 100,000-acre estate.
