Kion Group has added a second production line at its Kion Battery Systems plant in Karlstein am Main, Germany, to manufacture 24-volt lithium-ion batteries for industrial trucks. The plant now has capacity to produce 30,000 batteries per year.

KION Group and BMZ Holding announced a joint venture, KION Battery Systems, with each holding a 50% stake, to produce lithium-ion battery systems.

KION Group AG and BMZ Holding GmbH have signed an agreement to form a 50/50 joint venture, KION Battery Systems GmbH, to manufacture lithium-ion batteries for industrial trucks in Karlstein am Main, Germany. Production is expected to start by 2023 with around 80 employees.

Samsung SDI won an order from Germany's BMZ Group to supply battery cells worth nearly USD1 billion over five years.

BMZ Group invested in TerraE Holding GmbH and acquired the Frankfurt-based company and TerraE Engineering GmbH.

BMZ Group joined the joint venture Sachs Micro Mobility Solutions, becoming the second-largest shareholder after EU approval.
