Mitsubishi Electric established MELCO HVAC US, Inc. under its US holding company to convert a Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America plant in Maysville, Kentucky into a compressor factory. The investment is about $143.5 million, with production planned to start in October 2027 at a capacity of 1 million units per year.
Mitsubishi Electric US plans to invest $143.5 million to repurpose its existing Maysville, Kentucky facility to produce heat pump compressors, the first U.S. factory for twin-rotary variable capacity compressors. The project is expected to create 122 new jobs.
The US Department of Energy will provide Mitsubishi Electric US $50 million to establish a heat pump compressor factory in Kentucky. The funding is part of a $169 million package for heat pump manufacturing projects.
