Mondi completed its acquisition of 100% of Powerflute Group Holdings Oy, a division of Nordic Packaging and Container Holdings, for EUR 365 million on an enterprise value basis. The Kuopio mill produces 285,000 tonnes of semi-chemical fluting annually.

Metso's board appointed Pekka Vauramo as president and CEO, effective November 2018. The announcement was made on May 29, 2018.

One Equity Partners Europe signed an agreement to acquire Walki Group, a Finland-based technical laminate and protective packaging material producer, from Finnish private equity firm CapMan Buyout.

Valmet will supply a multifuel CYMIC circulating fluidized bed boiler and a flue gas treatment plant to Oulun Energia's new 75 MW biopower plant in Laanila, Oulu, replacing the Toppila unit I. The orders, worth around EUR 70 million, will be included in Valmet's Q1 2018 orders.

Interpump Group signed a binding agreement to acquire the international subsidiaries and the manufacturing unit of Finland-based GS-Hydro, a piping systems maker, for EUR 9 million, with closings expected by end of February 2018.

Rocsole and Flowrox are setting up the joint venture Flowrox Automation, headquartered in Kuopio, Finland, to manufacture and distribute Rocsole's Scaling Watch pipe scaling measurement solution. Flowrox's owner Capillary Oy will also buy a share of Rocsole.

Finnish company K.Hartwall won a four-year product development tender from a UK parcel operator for a new parcel roll container. The first phase is valued at more than EUR 18 million and series production will take place at its Sipoo factory.

CHEP and IFCO, Brambles companies, renewed their supply agreements with Finnish retailer S Group, providing reusable pallets and foldable plastic food crates. IFCO will supply up to 20 million reusable food crates over five years.

Metso was selected as main valve supplier for Metsä Fibre's next-generation bioproduct mill in Äänekoski, Finland, supplying about 3,000 valves plus comprehensive maintenance and spare parts agreements. Mill start-up is scheduled for late summer 2017.

Stora Enso is investing EUR 28 million at its Heinola Fluting Mill in Finland to improve quality and add 15,000 tonnes of AvantFlute SC capacity. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.

Engineering firm Amitec acquired a 100% stake in Formeca, a Finnish packaging machinery producer, from Stora Enso.

As part of its Finnish corrugated consolidation, Stora Enso will invest around €19 million in new machinery and infrastructure at its Lahti site. The plan is scheduled to be finalised by the first quarter of 2018.

Stora Enso plans to shut its corrugated packaging plant in Heinola, Finland, and transfer production to its Lahti plant. A total of 47 employees will be affected.

Metso has signed an agreement for a comprehensive valve delivery for the Kilpilahti Power Plant in Porvoo, Finland.

Metso signed an agreement to deliver about 150 on-off and control valves for the Kilpilahti combined heat and power plant in Porvoo, Finland, planned for commissioning in 2018. The order value was not disclosed.
