Endata vs. Profound

Endata vs. Profound

Both can take you from “AI assistants leave us out” to a published page. Profound does it as a broad platform a marketing team configures and buys through sales; Endata does it as one narrow routine a small business can start today.

Endata vs. Profound at a glance

Choose Endata if

  • You want to know the price before you talk to anyone.
  • You have no marketing team to set up agents, workflows and a CMS connection.
  • You'd like somewhere to publish too: a hosted newsroom on your own domain, built to be read by AI.
  • You want to see your own results first, with no account or card: the first report is free.

Choose Profound if

  • You need daily tracking across many prompts, regions and languages.
  • You want sentiment, citations, prompt volumes and AI crawler analytics.
  • You need Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Copilot, Grok or DeepSeek covered.
  • You have a team that will build its own content agents, and you need SSO and SOC 2.

What is the real difference between Endata and Profound?

It is not “one measures, the other acts”. Profound does both. Its site groups the product into Monitor (Answer Engine Insights, Prompt Volumes, Shopping, Agent Analytics) and AI Marketer (Agents, a Context Manager for your brand knowledge, and the AI Marketer itself), and says its Agents “run research, writing, and publishing in one cycle”.

The difference is size and shape. Profound is a platform: many tools, a tailored plan, agents your team designs and pays for in credits. Endata is one routine with nothing to configure: six questions, the ones you're missing from, a researched answer to each, your approval, a page, a recheck a month later.

How does each one measure AI visibility?

Endata

Endata reads your website, asks you to confirm your audience, two to six competitors and three to five topics, and writes six questions a buyer would plausibly ask. No question names a business. It puts each one to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs, with web search on, and records who was named.

How to read this. AI answers change from one run to the next, so these figures are a sample of what your customers may see, not a ranking.

A sample Endata report: how often each business was named, and the questions where the firm was left out.

Six questions is a small test on purpose. It will not give you a market-wide share of voice. It will show, in a couple of minutes and for free, which specific questions your competitors are winning.

Profound

Profound measures far more, far more often. Answer Engine Insights reports a visibility score and share of voice, sentiment, and the websites that influence answers about your brand; its site says “we run every tracked prompt daily”. It captures answers from the assistants' own interfaces rather than their APIs, which is closer to what a person actually sees than Endata's API calls.

Around that sit tools Endata has no counterpart for: Prompt Volumes, built on conversations Profound says it licenses from double-opt-in consumer panels; Agent Analytics, which reads your server logs to show which AI bots visit and how many human visitors arrive from AI search; and Shopping, for products in ChatGPT.

What happens after you find a gap?

Both products can end in a published page. They get there differently.

In Profound, the AI Marketer surfaces opportunities each week and turns the ones you accept into projects, which it hands to Agents. Agents are workflows: you start from a template (its site lists Content Refresh, AEO FAQ Generation, Competitive Research and Net-New Content Creation) or build your own, connect your CMS, and approve each run before it publishes. Each run uses credits. It is flexible and powerful, and it assumes someone owns it.

In Endata the route is fixed, and the same for every customer:

  1. The plan. Up to five steps, drawn from the questions where assistants named a competitor and not you.
  2. The research. For each question, a search of the last 30 days of news and web sources, keeping up to eight pieces of evidence.
  3. The draft. An answer that cites its evidence claim by claim, with room for your own attributed expert view.
  4. Your approval. Nothing goes live until someone on your side approves it.
  5. The page. Published on your newsroom, readable by people and served to AI crawlers as Markdown, in llms.txt and over a public MCP server.
  6. The recheck. The same six questions, a month later.

Your visibility action plan

Example
  1. Answer what fleet owners are asking

    Publish a clear answer on why trucking insurance rates are rising, with what you see at your own clients’ renewals.

    Missed question
    “Who offers commercial fleet insurance for small trucking companies?”
    Why this priority
    Summit Risk is mentioned here and you aren’t, on a question close to a sale.
    High priority
  2. Make your expertise easier to find

    Publish your specialties, service areas, and experience in a structured article.

    Missed question
    “Which insurance brokers specialize in interstate trucking?”
    Why this priority
    Harbor Insurance is mentioned here, and AI found little that says what you specialize in.
    High priority
  3. Strengthen an existing answer

    Update your commercial auto insurance guide with specific examples.

    Missed question
    “What does cargo insurance cost for a five-truck fleet?”
    Why this priority
    You already have a page on this, so it is a smaller fix with a smaller gain.
    Medium priority
The plan that comes with a report: what to publish first, and why.

Two things here are Endata's own. The newsroom means you don't need a CMS, or a developer, to have somewhere to publish. And related news articles can be posted to LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and Pinterest from the same place. The walk-through is in How to fix a hidden AI visibility gap in 10 minutes.

How do Endata and Profound pricing compare?

EndataProfound

Profound's pricing page shows two plans for brands, Trial (“Free”) and Enterprise (“Custom”), so we can't put a number beside Endata's. That in itself tells you who each is for: one is bought in a conversation with a sales team, the other with a card. Endata's current plans are on the pricing page.

The free offers differ too. Profound's trial is a week inside the real product, on a prompt set it recommends for your industry (trial users can't edit it). Endata's report is a one-off result on questions written for your business, with no account to create.

Can you use Endata and Profound together?

You can, though they overlap more than Endata does with a pure tracker. The pairing that makes sense: Profound as the measurement layer for the main site and brand, and Endata as a newsroom beside it that keeps publishing sourced answers to buyer questions, without drawing on the team's agent credits or the main CMS.

For a business without a marketing team, start smaller. Run the free Endata report, publish answers to the questions it finds, and consider a platform like Profound when there is a team to run it and enough content for daily tracking to be worth reading.

What Endata does not do

A comparison is only useful if it is honest about both sides. Endata does not:

  • track prompts daily, or track hundreds of them;
  • measure sentiment, ranking position, citations or prompt volume;
  • cover Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI;
  • analyze AI crawler traffic, or audit your existing website's technical setup;
  • let you design your own content workflows: the routine is the routine;
  • promise that an assistant will recommend you. What an assistant says is its own decision; Endata makes sure there is a clear, sourced answer for it to find.

Frequently asked questions

Is Endata a Profound alternative?

For a large marketing team, no: Profound tracks more engines, daily, with far more analysis, and lets a team build its own content agents. Endata is an alternative for a business that wants the outcome, published answers to the questions AI assistants leave it out of, at a published price and with nothing to set up.

How much does Profound cost?

Profound's pricing page lists a free Trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and an Enterprise plan priced “Custom”. It publishes no monthly price for brands. Its Agents run on credits. Ask Profound for a current quote.

Does Profound write and publish content?

Yes. Profound's site says its Agents “run research, writing, and publishing in one cycle”, connect to your existing CMS, and include an approval step before anything publishes. The difference from Endata is in the setup: Profound's agents are workflows your team builds or adapts and pays for in credits, where Endata runs one fixed routine and gives you a newsroom to publish on.

Which is better for a small business?

Usually Endata. Profound's paid plan is a custom Enterprise package, and its tools reward a team that will use them every day. Endata's free report shows the gaps and its plans, from $49 a month, research, draft and publish the answers for your approval.

Which is better for an enterprise marketing team?

Usually Profound. Daily tracking on up to nine answer engines, sentiment, citations, prompt volumes, AI crawler analytics, an API, SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance are things Endata does not offer.

Which AI assistants does each one cover?

Endata tests ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their official APIs with web search on. Profound's site names ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Grok and DeepSeek, captured from the assistants' own interfaces; its free trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

Is Endata's free report really free?

Yes. You enter your website, confirm your competitors and topics, and give an email address to receive the link. There is no account, password or card. The first two steps of the action plan are shown in full; the rest open when you claim the report into a workspace.

Can an agency use either for clients?

Both can. Endata's Agency plan gives each client its own workspace and newsroom inside an app carrying the agency's name and logo; see Endata for agencies. Profound offers client workspaces managed from one portal and a self-serve Agency Growth plan.
