Endata vs. HubSpot

Endata vs. the HubSpot AI Search Grader

Both are free, both take about two minutes, and both ask AI models about your business. They ask different things: HubSpot asks what the models think of your brand, and Endata asks whether they name you when a buyer hasn't mentioned you at all.

Endata vs. HubSpot at a glance

Choose Endata if

  • You want to know whether AI recommends you when the buyer hasn't typed your name.
  • You want to see the exact questions you lost, and which business was named instead.
  • You want the next step to be a published answer, not a tracking subscription.
  • Claude matters to your buyers: HubSpot's grader does not query it.

Choose HubSpot if

  • You want a single score for how AI models describe your brand, with sentiment.
  • Your brand is already well known and the question is what AI says about it.
  • You want to grade a competitor's brand the same way, for free.
  • You run marketing in HubSpot and expect to move on to HubSpot AEO for daily tracking.

What is the real difference between Endata and the HubSpot grader?

HubSpot's grader answers “what do AI models say about our brand?” You give it your company name, location, industry and product, and it asks each model how it characterizes you. That is a question about reputation, and it presumes the model has heard of you.

Endata answers “when a buyer asks for a recommendation without naming anyone, are we in the answer?” Its questions never mention a business. A small firm that AI describes perfectly well when asked by name can still be missing from every answer to “who should I hire for this?”, and that second situation is the one that costs enquiries.

How does each free report measure AI visibility?

HubSpot AI Search Grader

The grader sends your brand information to GPT-5.4 mini, Perplexity and Gemini and scores the replies out of 100 across five dimensions: Sentiment (up to 40 points), Presence Quality (20), Brand Recognition (20), Share of Voice (10) and Market Competition (10). The last one places you as a Leader, Challenger or Niche Player. HubSpot describes the scoring as deterministic and cross-validated across the three models, and says the snapshot is ready in under two minutes.

Two things are worth knowing when you read the score. HubSpot states that the grader asks each model to answer “based on its training data”; its AEO page adds that ChatGPT and Gemini pull from training data and Perplexity from live search. And the queries are pre-set by HubSpot, so the report does not show you a list of buyer questions you won or lost.

Endata

Endata reads your website, asks you to confirm your audience, two to six competitors and three to five topics, and writes six questions a buyer would plausibly ask. It puts each one to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs, with web search on, and records who was named.

How to read this. AI answers change from one run to the next, so these figures are a sample of what your customers may see, not a ranking.

A sample Endata report: how often each business was named, and the questions where the firm was left out.

You get the share of answers that named you, your standing against each competitor, other businesses that kept turning up, and the missed questions with who was named instead. It is a small test: six questions are not a market-wide share of voice, and there is no score for tone.

What happens after the free report?

HubSpot is clear that the grader is a starting point: “Your grade is a starting point. HubSpot AEO is what comes next.” HubSpot AEO is a tracking product. It follows the prompts you select across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, updates a visibility score daily, analyses which pages and domains are cited, and returns prioritized recommendations such as creating a page or updating one. On its standalone plan, acting on them is your team's work; HubSpot says content creation tools are built into Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise.

Endata's next step is the content itself:

  1. The plan. Up to five steps drawn from the questions you missed. The first two are shown in full on the free report; the rest open when you claim it into a workspace.
  2. The research. For each question, a search of the last 30 days of news and web sources, keeping up to eight pieces of evidence.
  3. The draft. An answer that cites its evidence claim by claim, with room for your own attributed expert view.
  4. Your approval. Nothing goes live until someone on your side approves it.
  5. The page. Published on your newsroom or your CMS. Every newsroom also serves llms.txt, Markdown versions and a public MCP server.
  6. The recheck. The same six questions, a month later.

Example
  1. Answer what fleet owners are asking

    Publish a clear answer on why trucking insurance rates are rising, with what you see at your own clients’ renewals.

    Missed question
    “Who offers commercial fleet insurance for small trucking companies?”
    Why this priority
    Summit Risk is mentioned here and you aren’t, on a question close to a sale.
    High priority
  2. Make your expertise easier to find

    Publish your specialties, service areas, and experience in a structured article.

    Missed question
    “Which insurance brokers specialize in interstate trucking?”
    Why this priority
    Harbor Insurance is mentioned here, and AI found little that says what you specialize in.
    High priority
  3. Strengthen an existing answer

    Update your commercial auto insurance guide with specific examples.

    Missed question
    “What does cargo insurance cost for a five-truck fleet?”
    Why this priority
    You already have a page on this, so it is a smaller fix with a smaller gain.
    Medium priority
The plan that comes with a report: what to publish first, and why.

News articles from the same newsroom can then be posted to LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and Pinterest. The whole route is described in How to fix a hidden AI visibility gap in 10 minutes.

What does each one cost once you go past free?

EndataHubSpot

HubSpot AEO is the cheaper subscription, and it has a free trial that Endata's plans do not. The two prices buy different things, though: HubSpot's buys tracking and advice, Endata's buys the researched drafts, the newsroom they are published on and the posting. Endata's current plans are on the pricing page.

Can you use Endata and the HubSpot grader together?

Yes, and since both are free it is the sensible way to start. Run HubSpot's grader to see how AI models describe you when asked by name. Run Endata's report to see whether they bring you up unprompted. A low HubSpot score and a low Endata share usually point to the same cause: there is not much clear, sourced material about your business for a model to draw on.

The pairing carries on after that. A team on HubSpot AEO can use Endata to produce the pages its recommendations call for, and Endata can publish approved answers to a HubSpot site as well as to its own newsroom.

What Endata does not do

A comparison is only useful if it is honest about both sides. Endata does not:

  • score sentiment, or tell you how favourably AI describes your brand;
  • measure citations and sources, ranking position or prompt volume;
  • track prompts daily, or track large numbers of them;
  • cover Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI;
  • audit your website's technical setup;
  • promise that an assistant will recommend you. What an assistant says is its own decision; Endata makes sure there is a clear, sourced answer for it to find.

Frequently asked questions

Is the HubSpot AI Search Grader the same as the AEO Grader?

Yes. The tool's own page on hubspot.com is titled AI Search Grader, and HubSpot's AEO product page refers to the same free, one-time diagnostic as AEO Grader. It is separate from HubSpot AEO, the paid tracking product.

Is Endata an alternative to the HubSpot AI Search Grader?

Only partly. Both are free reports on AI visibility, but HubSpot scores how models describe your brand and Endata tests whether you are named in answers to unbranded buyer questions. Endata is the alternative if you want the report to lead to published answers.

Which AI models does each one ask?

HubSpot's grader lists GPT-5.4 mini from OpenAI, Perplexity and Gemini. Endata asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs with web search on. Neither free report covers Google AI Overviews, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI.

Are both really free?

Yes. HubSpot says there is no cost to run an analysis and no account is required; you complete a short form to see the full results. Endata asks for an email address to send the link, with no account, password or card.

Which is better for a small or local business?

Start with Endata. A lesser-known business gains more from seeing which buyer questions it is missing from than from a brand perception score. HubSpot's own page notes that a low Market Competition score typically means the models have insufficient or inconsistent signals about where a brand stands.

Does HubSpot write or publish the content for you?

Not in the grader. HubSpot AEO gives prioritized recommendations, and HubSpot says content creation tools are built into Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise. In Endata, researching, drafting, publishing and sharing are part of the same product as the report, from $49 a month.

How much does HubSpot AEO cost?

HubSpot lists it at $50 a month, or $45 a month paid annually, with 25 tracked prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini and no other HubSpot subscription required. More prompts can be bought, and it is included in Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise. Check HubSpot's site for current prices.

Can an agency use either for clients?

Both free reports accept any business, so either works for a prospect audit. For delivery, Endata's Agency plan gives each client its own workspace and newsroom under the agency's brand; see Endata for agencies. HubSpot sells one AEO instance per brand.
