Dunapack Rambox, a subsidiary of Austria's Prinzhorn group, signed an agreement for an 11.5-hectare plot to build a 22,000 sqm corrugated packaging plant in Bolintin near Bucharest. The plant will create 200 jobs and, with the Sfantu Gheorghe factory, reach 300 million sqm of annual capacity; investment was not disclosed.

Bemis agreed to acquire the subsidiaries Evadix Labels and Evadix MPI from Belgium-based Evadix for 3.3 million euros, including about 0.84 million euros of debt repayments. Both businesses are based in Romania and make polyethylene films and flexible packaging.

The Wilkins Group has invested EUR 350,000 in a new gluing machine for its factory in Romania.

United Romanian Breweries Bereprod (URBB) invested over EUR 2 million to modernize the production line at its Pantelimon factory, applying aluminum foil without adhesive to beer cans. The technology was developed by Italian company EcoCap.

Romcarton S.A. is building a new corrugated cardboard packaging factory in Popesti-Leordeni, Ilfov County, near Bucharest, with a total investment of EUR 27.5 million, financed partly by a EUR 23.4 million BCR credit, with completion expected by end of 2017.

Austrian packaging manufacturer ALPLA agreed to acquire a 100% stake in Star East Pet SRL, a PET preform producer based in Brasov, Romania. Completion is expected in mid-2017, subject to antitrust approval; financial terms were not disclosed.

Motexco SRL of Iasi, Romania, was awarded a French defence tender worth EUR 10.2 million for 2010-model backpack bags, with a 4-year volume of 75,000 to 250,000 bags.
