Whakatane Mill Limited secured over NZ$70 million from its shareholders for a major upgrade that adds 50,000 tonnes of folding box board capacity, lifting output from 150,000 to 200,000 tonnes. Construction began in late June 2023 with full production expected by November.

Oji Fibre Solutions will invest A$100 million (US$68 million) to develop automated cardboard box production at its Christchurch, New Zealand factory, replacing the Shands Road operation, with completion planned for 2021.

Oji Fibre Solutions unveiled upgraded and expanded facilities at its Penrose paper bag plant in Auckland after a NZ$30 million investment. The new conversion line adds 48 million dairy and food powder bags a year, bringing total output to about 100 million bags.
