Indorama Ventures (IVL) acquired a 74% share of Egypt-based PET preforms maker Medco Plast, which has annual capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes. The deal was reported on 15 November 2018.

Mondi has acquired a 96% interest in Egyptian industrial bags producer Suez Bags for EGP 284 million ($15.88 million), to be integrated into its Fibre Packaging business.

Mondi completed the acquisition of a control position in Egyptian industrial bags producer Suez Bags, now owning 96%. The equity value is EGP 284 million (about EUR 13.6 million) on a 100% basis, and the business will be integrated into Mondi's Fibre Packaging business.

Mondi Group completed the acquisition of National Company for Paper Products and Import & Export (NPP) for EGP 510 million (about EUR 24 million), adding an industrial bags plant in Giza near Cairo.

Indorama Ventures and India's Dhunseri Petrochem formed a 50:50 joint venture to acquire up to 50% of Egyptian Polyester Company (EIPET) and restart its 540,000 tonne/year PET plant in Ain Sokhna, Egypt. Financial details were not disclosed.

Mondi agreed to acquire a privately owned industrial bags maker operating in Egypt for €23.7m (£20.9m), reported on 30 April 2018.
