Metinvest modernising Ilyich Steel hot strip mill in Mariupol

Metinvest is modernising the 1700 hot strip mill at Ilyich Steel in Mariupol, Ukraine, with equipment from Primetals Technologies. The revamp, costing around US$110 million, began in 2018 and is scheduled to finish in fall 2019, increasing coil weight to 27 tonnes and reducing minimum thickness to 1.2 mm.
