# Endata vs. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: which one do you need?

> **Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is a measurement product**: daily prompt tracking, sentiment, share of voice and prompt research, built for a team that already has people to write. **Endata is a measure-and-fix product**: it tests a small set of buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini, then researches, drafts, publishes and shares a sourced answer to each one you're missing from, for your approval. If you need a dashboard, choose Semrush. If you need the content to exist, choose Endata. Plenty of teams could use both.

Updated 2026-10-12

Both tell you whether ChatGPT and other assistants mention your business. They part ways on what happens next: Semrush gives a marketing team deeper tracking, and Endata gives a business the published answer.

## Endata vs. Semrush at a glance

### Choose Endata if

- You know you're missing from AI answers and want the fix, not another dashboard.
- Nobody on the team has spare hours to research and write an answer every week.
- You want one place that measures, drafts, publishes and posts, with your approval at each step.
- You'd like to see your own results before paying anything: the first report is free.

### Choose Semrush if

- You have writers and need precise, daily data to direct them.
- You want sentiment, share of voice and prompt volume across many prompts.
- You need coverage of Google's AI Mode alongside the assistants.
- You already run SEO in Semrush and want AI visibility in the same account.

## What is the real difference between Endata and Semrush?

Semrush answers the question **“how visible are we in AI search, and is that changing?”** Its toolkit is six tools built around that question: an overall AI Visibility Score, competitor research, prompt research, brand performance, daily prompt tracking, and a site audit for AI crawlers.

Endata answers a narrower question and then does the work: **“which buyer questions leave us out, and what should we publish about each one?”** The report is the start of a workflow. Each missed question becomes a topic Endata researches, a draft with its sources cited, a page on your newsroom once you approve it, and a monthly recheck against the same questions.

> **Put simply** Semrush is an instrument panel. Endata is a small editorial team. One tells you more; the other leaves you with more published.

## How does each one measure AI visibility?

### Endata

Endata reads your website, asks you to confirm your audience, two to six competitors and three to five topics, and writes six questions a buyer would plausibly ask: some close to a purchase, some comparing options, some learning. No question names a business. It then puts each question to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs, with web search on, and records who was named.

*A sample Endata report: how often each business was named, and the questions where the firm was left out.*

That is a deliberately small test. Six questions will not tell you your share of voice across a market. It will tell you, in a couple of minutes and for free, which specific questions your competitors are winning, and those are the ones worth writing about.

### Semrush

Semrush works at a larger scale. The standalone toolkit tracks 25 prompts every day, and adds analysis that Endata does not attempt: sentiment and the narratives assistants repeat about your brand, share of voice against competitors, and prompt research with topic volume, difficulty and intent, which Semrush describes as “keyword research for AI”. Its Prompt Tracking covers more than 220 countries and territories.

> **Where Semrush is plainly stronger** Daily tracking, far more prompts, sentiment, prompt volume, Google AI Mode and a technical audit. If measurement is the job, Semrush does more of it than Endata does.

## What happens after you find a gap?

This is where the two products stop resembling each other. Semrush's Brand Performance report produces recommendations. Turning them into published pages is your team's work, in whatever tools you write and publish with.

Endata treats the gap as an assignment:

1. **The plan.** Up to five steps, ordered by how many assistants named a competitor and how close the question is to a sale.
2. **The research.** For each question, a search of the last 30 days of news and web sources, keeping up to eight pieces of evidence.
3. **The draft.** An answer that cites its evidence claim by claim, with room for your own expert view.
4. **Your approval.** Nothing goes live until someone on your side approves it.
5. **The page.** Published on your newsroom, readable by people and served to AI crawlers as Markdown, in llms.txt and over a public MCP server.
6. **The recheck.** The same six questions, a month later.

*The plan that comes with a report: what to publish first, and why.*

## How do Endata and Semrush pricing compare?

|   | Endata | Semrush |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | The AI Business Visibility Report: 6 questions, 4 assistants, an action plan | A free tier with one demo project and 10 reports a day |
| Entry | **Solo, $49/month**: 20 researched answers a month, a newsroom on your domain, monthly rechecks | **AI Visibility Toolkit, $99/month**: 1 project, 1 domain, 25 tracked prompts |
| Team | **Business, $199/month**: 100 researched answers, 3 seats, short videos, API and MCP | **Combined SEO and AI plans, $199 to $549/month**: 50 to 200 prompts a day plus Semrush's SEO tools |
| Agencies | **Agency, $799/month** for 5 client workspaces under your brand, then $99 a client | Enterprise plan, custom pricing; extra Brand Performance domains $99 each |

The prices are not like for like. Semrush's buys data; the writing is still yours to staff. Endata's includes the researched drafts, the newsroom they are published on and the posting. Compare Endata's price with the toolkit **plus** the hours it would take someone to research and write those answers. Endata's current plans are on the [pricing page](https://endata.com/pricing).

## Can you use Endata and Semrush together?

Yes, and for a marketing team it is a sensible pairing. Use Semrush to watch the wide picture: many prompts, daily, with sentiment. Use Endata as the part of the team that turns the gaps into published, sourced answers and keeps them current as the news changes.

For a business without a marketing team, the order usually runs the other way. Start with the free Endata report, publish answers to the questions it finds, and add broader tracking only once there is enough content for daily measurement to be worth reading.

## What Endata does not do

A comparison is only useful if it is honest about both sides. Endata does not:

- track prompts daily, or track hundreds of them;
- measure sentiment, ranking position or prompt volume;
- cover Google AI Overviews or AI Mode;
- audit your existing website's technical setup;
- promise that an assistant will recommend you. What an assistant says is its own decision; Endata makes sure there is a clear, sourced answer for it to find.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Endata a Semrush alternative?

For measurement alone, no: Semrush tracks more prompts, more often, with more analysis. Endata is an alternative if what you want is the result, published answers to the questions AI assistants leave you out of, without hiring writers to act on a dashboard.

### Which is better for a small business?

Usually Endata. A small business rarely has someone to turn tracking data into content every week. Endata's free report shows the gaps and its plans, from $49 a month, research, draft and publish the answers for your approval.

### Which is better for an in-house SEO team?

Usually Semrush, especially if the team already works in it. Daily tracking, sentiment and prompt research give writers precise direction. Some teams add Endata to produce and maintain the answer pages themselves.

### Which AI assistants does each one cover?

Endata tests ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their official APIs with web search on. Semrush's documentation names ChatGPT and Google AI Mode for prompt tracking and brand performance, and its pricing page lists Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini “& more”.

### Does Semrush write or publish content for AI visibility?

The AI Visibility Toolkit's documentation describes measurement and recommendations, not drafting or publishing answers. Semrush sells content tools separately. In Endata, drafting, publishing and sharing are part of the same product as the report.

### How much does the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit cost?

Semrush lists the standalone toolkit at $99 a month with 25 tracked prompts and one domain, with no free trial; 50 more prompts are $60 a month and each extra domain $99. Its combined SEO and AI plans run from $199 to $549 a month. Check Semrush's site for current prices.

### Is Endata's free report really free?

Yes. You enter your website, confirm your competitors and topics, and give an email address to receive the link. There is no account, password or card. The first two steps of the action plan are shown in full; the rest open when you claim the report into a workspace.

### Can an agency use either for clients?

Both can. Endata's Agency plan gives each client its own workspace and newsroom inside an app carrying the agency's name and logo; see [Endata for agencies](https://endata.com/agencies). Semrush offers multi-brand tracking on its Enterprise plan.
