# Endata vs. OtterlyAI: which one do you need?

> **OtterlyAI is an AI search monitoring product**: you choose the prompts, it runs them every day across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot (more as add-ons), and reports mentions, citations, sentiment and position, with an audit of your site and a list of recommendations. **Endata is a measure-and-fix product**: it tests six buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini, then researches, drafts, publishes and shares a sourced answer to each one you're missing from, for your approval. If you want to watch closely, choose OtterlyAI. If you want the content to exist, choose Endata.

Updated 2026-10-12

Both show you whether AI assistants mention your business when buyers ask. OtterlyAI then keeps watching, daily and in detail. Endata stops watching and starts writing: the missed question becomes a sourced answer on your own site.

## Endata vs. OtterlyAI at a glance

### Choose Endata if

- You already suspect you're missing from AI answers and want the fix, not a daily chart of it.
- Nobody on the team has spare hours to research and write an answer every week.
- You'd rather publish on a newsroom built to be read by AI than rework your existing site.
- You want to see your own results first without starting a trial clock: the report is free.

### Choose OtterlyAI if

- You have people who write, and need daily data to tell them what to write about.
- You want to pick your own prompts and track them by country.
- You need Google AI Overviews, AI Mode or Microsoft Copilot covered.
- You want citations, sentiment and position, plus an audit of your existing pages.

## What is the real difference between Endata and OtterlyAI?

OtterlyAI answers the question **“what do AI search engines say about us today, and how is that moving?”** Its help center describes three steps: you define the prompts, it queries the engines daily as a neutral, non-personalized user, and you receive the visibility data.

Endata answers a narrower question and then does the work: **“which buyer questions leave us out, and what should we publish about each one?”** Each missed question becomes a topic Endata researches, a draft with its sources cited, a page on your newsroom once you approve it, and a monthly recheck.

> **Put simply** OtterlyAI is a monitor with a to-do list. Endata is a small editorial team with a monthly check. One tells you more; the other leaves you with more published.

## How does each one measure AI visibility?

### Endata

Endata reads your website, asks you to confirm your audience, two to six competitors and three to five topics, and writes six questions a buyer would plausibly ask. No question names a business. It then puts each one to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs, with web search on, and records who was named.

*A sample Endata report: how often each business was named, and the questions where the firm was left out.*

That is a small test on purpose. Six questions a month will not show a trend line or a market-wide share of voice. They will show, in a couple of minutes and for free, which specific questions your competitors are winning.

### OtterlyAI

OtterlyAI works at a larger scale and a finer grain. You add prompts yourself or find them with its AI Prompt Research tool. Every prompt runs daily, in more than 70 countries. For each one it reports brand coverage, sentiment, brand mentions, citations of your domain and an estimate of intent volume. A brand report adds share of voice, brand position and a Brand Visibility Index that plots coverage against position.

It also looks at your website, which Endata does not. The GEO Audit checks, page by page, which bots your server and robots.txt let in and how ready the content is for AI engines. Agent Analytics, on Standard and up, reads your server logs to show which AI crawlers visit and which pages they fetch.

> **Where OtterlyAI is plainly stronger** Daily tracking, your own prompts and far more of them, sentiment, position, citations, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, country-level monitoring and a technical audit. If measurement is the job, OtterlyAI does much more of it.

## What happens after you find a gap?

OtterlyAI does not leave you with numbers alone. Once a brand report has enough prompts, competitors and data, it generates recommendations and refreshes them every seven days. There are 15 kinds, each with its reasoning: create a page where a competitor is visible and you are not, improve one that goes unmentioned, join a Reddit conversation, pitch a publication that cites a rival. That reaches further off your site than Endata, which does no outreach. The Lite plan shows a preview of up to three per cycle.

Carrying them out is your team's work: its help center describes “content you should create”, not OtterlyAI drafting or publishing it. Endata treats the gap as an assignment:

1. **The plan.** Up to five steps, starting with the questions where competitors were named and you were not.
2. **The research.** For each question, a search of the last 30 days of news and web sources, keeping up to eight pieces of evidence.
3. **The draft.** An answer that cites its evidence claim by claim, with room for your own attributed expert view.
4. **Your approval.** Nothing goes live until someone on your side approves it.
5. **The page.** Published on your newsroom or your CMS, and served to AI crawlers as Markdown, in llms.txt and over a public MCP server.
6. **The recheck.** The same six questions, a month later.

*The plan that comes with a report: what to publish first, and why.*

News articles can then be posted to LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and Pinterest from the same place. The full walk-through is in [How to fix a hidden AI visibility gap in 10 minutes](https://endata.com/guides/fix-ai-visibility-gap).

## How do Endata and OtterlyAI plans compare?

|   | Endata | OtterlyAI |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | The AI Business Visibility Report: 6 questions, 4 assistants, an action plan. No account or card | A 7-day trial: 50 prompts, no card. A paid plan is needed to keep monitoring |
| Entry | **Solo, $49/month**: 20 researched answers a month, a newsroom on your domain, monthly rechecks | **Lite**: 15 prompts tracked daily, 1 workspace, a preview of recommendations |
| Team | **Business, $199/month**: 100 researched answers, 3 seats, short videos, API and MCP | **Standard**: 100 prompts, unlimited workspaces, full recommendations, 2,000 API requests a month. **Premium**: 400 prompts, 5,000 API requests |
| Agencies | **Agency, $799/month** for 5 client workspaces under your brand, then $99 a client | A workspace per client on Standard and Premium; custom Enterprise plans |

We have left OtterlyAI's prices out on purpose. Its help center lists what each plan includes and sends you to its pricing page for the amounts, charged in US dollars or euros depending on where you are, monthly or annually at a discount. Two things it does say: team members are unlimited on every plan, and Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons on every plan.

Whatever the amounts, they are not like for like. OtterlyAI's price buys data and advice; the writing is still yours to staff. Endata's includes the researched drafts, the newsroom they are published on and the posting. Endata's current plans are on the [pricing page](https://endata.com/pricing).

## Can you use Endata and OtterlyAI together?

Yes. They overlap on the first step and almost nowhere after it. A marketing team can use OtterlyAI to watch a wide set of prompts daily, and Endata to turn the gaps into published, sourced answers. OtterlyAI's citation reports are then a way to check whether those pages get cited, which Endata does not measure.

For a business without a marketing team, start with the free Endata report, publish answers to the questions it finds, and add daily monitoring once there is enough content for a daily chart to be worth reading.

## What Endata does not do

A comparison is only useful if it is honest about both sides. Endata does not:

- track prompts daily, let you track hundreds of them, or track by country;
- measure sentiment, ranking position, citations or prompt volume;
- cover Google AI Overviews, AI Mode or Microsoft Copilot;
- audit your existing website. Its analytics show AI referral visits and AI crawler fetches of your newsroom, which are not confirmed citations;
- promise that an assistant will recommend you. What an assistant says is its own decision; Endata makes sure there is a clear, sourced answer for it to find.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Endata an OtterlyAI alternative?

For monitoring alone, no: OtterlyAI tracks more prompts, every day, on more engines, with more metrics. Endata is an alternative if what you want is the result, published answers to the questions AI assistants leave you out of, without staffing the writing yourself.

### Which is better for a small business?

It depends on who will do the writing. If someone will, OtterlyAI's Lite plan tracks 15 prompts daily. If nobody will, Endata's free report shows the gaps and its plans, from $49 a month, research, draft and publish the answers for your approval.

### Which is better for an SEO or content team?

Usually OtterlyAI. Daily tracking, citations, sentiment and the GEO Audit give writers precise direction. Some teams add Endata to produce and maintain the answer pages.

### Which AI assistants does each one cover?

Endata tests ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their official APIs with web search on. OtterlyAI's help center lists Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on every plan, with Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as paid add-ons.

### Does OtterlyAI write or publish content?

Its help center describes monitoring, an audit and recommendations, including which content you should create, but not drafting or publishing it for you. In Endata, drafting, publishing and sharing are part of the same product as the report.

### How much does OtterlyAI cost?

OtterlyAI has three plans, Lite, Standard and Premium, with 15, 100 and 400 prompts, plus custom Enterprise plans. Its help center says prices are in US dollars or euros by location and points to its pricing page for the amounts. We do not repeat them here; check its site.

### Does either one have a free trial?

OtterlyAI has a 7-day trial with 50 prompts and no card. Endata has no trial; instead its AI Business Visibility Report is free, with no account or card. The first two steps of its action plan are shown in full; the rest open when you claim the report into a workspace.

### Can an agency use either for clients?

Both can. OtterlyAI's Standard and Premium plans allow unlimited workspaces, one per client, sharing one pool of prompts. Endata's Agency plan gives each client its own workspace and newsroom inside an app carrying the agency's brand; see [Endata for agencies](https://endata.com/agencies).
