# Endata vs. Frase: which one do you need for AI search?

> **Frase is a content platform for a team that does SEO**: site audits, SEO research and briefs, an AI agent that drafts in your brand voice, scores for Google and for AI citation, publishing to your CMS, and daily AI visibility tracking with sentiment and citations. **Endata does one narrower job**: it finds the buyer questions where ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini name your competitors and not you, then researches recent news, drafts a cited answer to each, and publishes and shares it once you approve. If content is someone's job at your company, Frase gives that person far more to work with. If it is nobody's job, Endata is built for that.

Updated 2026-10-12

These two are closer than most comparisons on this site: both measure whether AI names you, both write the content, and both publish it. They differ in who is expected to run them, and in what they write from.

## What is the real difference between Endata and Frase?

It would be wrong to say Frase only measures. Frase calls itself “the content operating system for AI search” and describes a full loop: audit, research, writing, publishing, hosting and monitoring. Endata also runs a loop from a gap to a published page. The honest difference is in scope and in who is holding the controls.

**Frase is a workbench for people who produce content.** It starts from a topic or a page: research what ranks, write a brief, draft it, score it for Google and for AI, publish it, then watch it for decay. Its AI Visibility feature tracks prompts you choose, and Frase says plainly that it “monitors and alerts”; deciding which gap to act on, and starting the brief, is yours.

**Endata is a service for a business with no one to do that.** It starts from a buyer's question, not a keyword. It writes the questions, runs them, tells you which ones you lost, and turns each into an assignment it carries out itself, stopping for your approval before anything is published.

> **Put simply** Frase gives a content team better tools across SEO and AI search. Endata stands in for the content team on one specific task: answering the questions AI leaves you out of.

## How does each one measure AI visibility?

### Endata

Endata reads your website, asks you to confirm your audience, two to six competitors and three to five topics, and writes six questions a buyer would plausibly ask. No question names a business. Each goes to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs, with web search on. The first run is free and needs only an email address.

*A sample Endata report: how often each business was named, and the questions where the firm was left out.*

It is a small test by design. Six questions, rerun monthly on a paid plan, will show you which specific questions competitors are winning. They will not give you a daily trend line, a sentiment reading or a list of the pages AI cited.

### Frase

Frase tracks more, more often. You enter your own brand, prompts and competitors; it runs the prompts daily and alerts you to changes, classifies each prompt as awareness, consideration or decision, and reports brand mentions, sentiment, share of voice, which of your URLs were cited and where they sat in the citation list. It also offers per-prompt targeting in more than 40 countries, a weekly citation-rate benchmark against your industry, and logs of the AI crawlers reaching your pages.

Coverage depends on the plan. Frase's pricing page lists AI Visibility on ChatGPT and Google AI for Starter, adds Perplexity on Professional, and adds Claude and Gemini on Scale.

> **Where Frase is plainly stronger** Daily tracking, hundreds of prompts, sentiment, citations, Google AI, country targeting, site audits, SEO research and content scoring. Endata does none of these. If you want to manage search visibility as a discipline, Frase covers far more of it.

## How does each one write and publish?

Both draft with AI and both keep a person in charge by default, so the useful comparison is what each draft is made from and where it ends up.

Frase's agent researches a topic by reading the pages already ranking and the answers AI engines quote, builds a brief with the questions, subtopics and sources worth citing, and drafts in your brand voice, in more than 70 languages. Two scores, one for Google and one for AI citation, update as you edit. Finished pages go to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, or to FraseCMS, and a feature called Content Guard watches published pages for ranking decay and drafts the fix.

Endata writes one kind of page: an answer to a buyer's question. The steps are fixed:

1. **The plan.** Up to five steps drawn from the questions you were left out of.
2. **The research.** A search of the last 30 days of news and web sources for each question, keeping up to eight pieces of evidence.
3. **The draft.** An answer that cites that evidence claim by claim, with room for your own attributed expert perspective.
4. **Your approval.** Nothing goes live until someone on your side approves it.
5. **The page.** Published on a hosted newsroom on your own domain, or to your CMS. Every newsroom serves llms.txt, Markdown versions and a public MCP server that needs no key.
6. **The recheck.** The same questions, a month later.

*The plan that comes with a report: what to publish first, and why.*

Two differences are worth weighing. **Approval:** in Frase every content type starts in review, and you can then allow chosen types to publish unattended within limits you set; in Endata there is no unattended setting. **Distribution:** Endata posts news articles to LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and Pinterest, and short videos to TikTok and YouTube Shorts on Business and up. Frase turns one piece into channel-ready posts from its Professional plan; the pages we read do not describe posting them to social accounts for you. The Endata route is walked through in [How to fix a hidden AI visibility gap in 10 minutes](https://endata.com/guides/fix-ai-visibility-gap).

## How do Endata and Frase pricing compare?

|   | Endata | Frase |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | The AI Business Visibility Report: 6 questions, 4 assistants, an action plan. No trial of paid plans | A 7-day trial with no card: Professional's features, capped at 5 articles, 50 audit pages and 25 AI prompts |
| Entry | **Solo, $49/month**: 20 researched answers a month, a newsroom on your domain, monthly rechecks | **Starter, $49/month** ($39 billed yearly): 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles, 50 audit pages, AI Visibility on ChatGPT and Google AI |
| Team | **Business, $199/month**: 100 researched answers, 3 seats, short videos, API and MCP | **Professional, $129/month** ($103 billed yearly): 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles, 250 audit pages, Perplexity added |
| Agencies | **Agency, $799/month** for 5 client workspaces under your brand, then $99 a client | **Scale, $299/month** ($239 billed yearly): 5 seats, up to 10 domains, 100 articles, Claude and Gemini added, exportable client reports. White-label is Enterprise, custom pricing |

Frase's entry price buys a wider toolset, and its yearly billing has no Endata equivalent. Three details change the sum for some buyers: Frase's coverage of all five engines begins at Scale, extra seats are $29 a month each on Professional and Scale, and hosting on your own domain without a Frase badge is a $19 a month add-on. Endata's current plans are on the [pricing page](https://endata.com/pricing).

## Can you use Endata and Frase together?

You can, though the overlap is larger than with a pure tracking tool, so most businesses will pick one. The pairing that makes sense is a content team that runs its site, SEO pages and daily tracking in Frase, and uses Endata for a separate, steady stream of news-based answers on its own newsroom.

If you are undecided, both can be tested without paying. Run [Endata's free report](https://endata.com/#check) to see which buyer questions you are missing from, and use Frase's trial to see how much of its platform your team would really use. Agencies comparing the two for client work can read [Endata for agencies](https://endata.com/agencies).

## What Endata does not do

A comparison is only useful if it is honest about both sides. Endata does not:

- track prompts daily, or track large numbers of them;
- measure sentiment, ranking position, citations and sources, or prompt volume;
- cover Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI;
- audit your website's technical setup;
- do keyword research;
- promise that an assistant will recommend you. What an assistant says is its own decision; Endata makes sure there is a clear, sourced answer for it to find.

Frase is careful on the last point too: its pricing page says it will not promise a ranking or a citation within the trial.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Endata a Frase alternative?

For a content or SEO team, no: Frase covers audits, SEO research, content scoring and daily tracking that Endata does not. Endata is an alternative for a business that wants the questions AI leaves it out of answered and published without running a content platform.

### Which is better for a small business with no marketing team?

Usually Endata. It chooses the questions, does the research and writes the draft; your part is approving it. Frase can do more, but it is designed to be operated: you choose the prompts, the topics and the settings.

### Which is better for an SEO or content team?

Usually Frase. It serves Google rankings and AI citations in one workflow, with briefs, two content scores, site audits and monitoring of pages that start to slip. Endata does not attempt SEO.

### Which AI assistants does each one cover?

Endata tests ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini on the free report and on every plan. Frase tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI, by plan: ChatGPT and Google AI on Starter, Perplexity from Professional, Claude and Gemini on Scale.

### Does Frase publish content automatically?

Only if you allow it. Frase says every content type starts in review and nothing publishes on its own until you switch that on, per content type and within limits you set. Endata has no unattended mode: every answer waits for approval.

### How much does Frase cost?

Frase lists Starter at $49 a month, Professional at $129 and Scale at $299, or $39, $103 and $239 a month billed yearly, with custom Enterprise pricing and a 7-day free trial. Extra seats are $29 a month. Check Frase's site for current prices.

### Is there a free version of either?

Endata's AI Business Visibility Report is free with no account, password or card; its paid plans have no trial. Frase has no free plan on its pricing page, but offers a 7-day trial with no card, and its site also lists free checker tools.

### Can both be driven from an AI assistant over MCP?

Yes, in different ways. Frase offers an MCP server and CLI on every plan, so its tools can be run from an assistant. Endata's API, MCP and webhooks come with Business, and every Endata newsroom has a public MCP server for reading it; see [the MCP content pipeline guide](https://endata.com/guides/mcp-content-pipeline).
