# Endata vs. Ahrefs Brand Radar: which one do you need?

> **Ahrefs Brand Radar is a research database with tracking on top**: more than 476 million prompts a month run through Google's AI results, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, searchable for any brand, plus your own prompts checked as often as daily. **Endata is a measure-and-publish product**: it asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini six questions your buyers would ask, then researches, drafts, publishes and shares a sourced answer to each one you're missing from, for your approval. If you need to study a market, choose Brand Radar. If you need the answer pages to exist, choose Endata.

Updated 2026-10-12

Both show whether AI assistants name your business. Brand Radar does it with one of the largest stores of AI answers there is. Endata does it with six questions, and then writes what was missing.

## Endata vs. Brand Radar at a glance

### Choose Endata if

- Your brand is small enough that a prebuilt database of prompts may barely mention it.
- You want the missing answers researched, drafted and published, not a list of gaps to hand to a writer.
- Nobody on the team has spare hours to turn a dashboard into pages every week.
- You'd like to see your own results first: the report is free, with no account or card.

### Choose Brand Radar if

- You want to research any brand, including ones you don't own, across a very large set of real prompts.
- You need Google AI Overviews, AI Mode or Copilot covered.
- You want share of voice, citations and trends over time, and people on staff to act on them.
- You already work in Ahrefs and want AI visibility beside your keyword and backlink data.

## What is the real difference between Endata and Brand Radar?

Brand Radar answers the question **“across everything people ask AI, how often does any brand come up, and who gets cited?”** It has two parts. The AI Visibility Index is a prebuilt database of AI answers that you search by brand, with no setup. Custom Prompts lets you track the specific questions you care about.

Endata answers a narrower question and then does the work: **“which buyer questions leave us out, and what should we publish about each one?”** The report is the first step of a workflow. Each missed question becomes a topic Endata researches, a draft with its sources cited, a page on your newsroom once you approve it, and a monthly recheck against the same questions.

> **Put simply** Brand Radar is a library of what AI has said about every brand. Endata is a small editorial team working on what AI should be able to find about yours.

## How does each one measure AI visibility?

### Brand Radar

Ahrefs starts from search data. Its prompts are modeled on questions people really type into Google, drawn from the People Also Ask results in its keyword database. Each prompt is entered into the free public web version of each assistant, and the response is stored so you can search it for brand mentions and cited links. Ahrefs' product page puts the total at more than 476 million prompts a month, most of them in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, and roughly 29 million each in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot.

From that it reports mentions, citations, impressions and AI Share of Voice, with competitor comparison and trends over time. Ahrefs is candid about the modeled parts: impressions are built from Google search volumes, which its help center calls a proxy for AI demand, and its methodology article calls them directional signals, not traffic counts. Coverage is strongest in English, and niche or long-tail prompts may not be in the index at all.

> **Where Brand Radar is plainly stronger** Scale, citations and cited pages, share of voice, history, Google's AI results and Copilot, daily tracking of your own prompts, and research on brands that aren't yours. If measurement is the job, Brand Radar does far more of it than Endata does.

### Endata

Endata starts from your business. It reads your website, asks you to confirm your audience, two to six competitors and three to five topics, and writes six questions a buyer would plausibly ask. No question names a business. It puts each one to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their makers' APIs, with web search on, and records who was named.

*A sample Endata report: how often each business was named, and the questions where the firm was left out.*

That is a deliberately small test, and it will not tell you your share of voice across a market. Its advantage is at the other end of the scale: a local firm or a young company may hardly appear in a database built from popular searches, but six questions written for its own buyers will always return a result, including who was named instead.

## What happens after you find a gap?

Brand Radar gives a skilled team good raw material. It shows which pages and domains assistants cite, and the “fanout queries” an assistant generates behind a prompt, which Ahrefs suggests using to find content gaps. Deciding what to write, writing it and publishing it is your team's work, in whatever tools you already use. Ahrefs sells content tools separately; its Brand Radar pages do not describe drafting or publishing answers.

Endata treats the gap as an assignment:

1. **The plan.** Up to five steps, starting with the questions where competitors were named and you were not.
2. **The research.** For each question, a search of the last 30 days of news and web sources, keeping up to eight pieces of evidence.
3. **The draft.** An answer that cites its evidence claim by claim, with room for your own attributed expert view.
4. **Your approval.** Nothing goes live until someone on your side approves it.
5. **The page.** Published on your newsroom or your CMS, and served to AI crawlers as Markdown, in llms.txt and over a public MCP server.
6. **The recheck.** The same six questions, a month later.

*The plan that comes with a report: what to publish first, and why.*

News articles can then be posted to LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and Pinterest from the same place. The full walk-through is in [How to fix a hidden AI visibility gap in 10 minutes](https://endata.com/guides/fix-ai-visibility-gap).

## How do Endata and Brand Radar pricing compare?

|   | Endata | Ahrefs Brand Radar |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | The AI Business Visibility Report: 6 questions, 4 assistants, an action plan | The AI Visibility Checker: a one-time preview for a brand name, top 5 results per section |
| Entry | **Solo, $49/month**: 20 researched answers a month, a newsroom on your domain, monthly rechecks | **Ahrefs Lite, $129/month**: 5 tracked AI prompts, alongside Ahrefs' SEO tools. Standard ($249) tracks 10 and Advanced ($449) tracks 20 |
| More tracking | **Business, $199/month**: 100 researched answers, 3 seats, short videos, API and MCP | **Custom prompt packages, $50 to $250/month**: 2,500 to 25,000 checks a month. One prompt on one platform in one location is one check |
| The database | Not offered | **Brand Radar AI add-on**: $199/month per platform index, or $699/month for all platforms with 2,500 custom prompt checks, on top of a paid Ahrefs plan |
| Agencies | **Agency, $799/month** for 5 client workspaces under your brand, then $99 a client | Enterprise from $1,499/month, with an annual commitment |

The prices are not like for like. Ahrefs' buys data, and a great deal of it; the writing is still yours to staff. Endata's includes the researched drafts, the newsroom they are published on and the posting. Compare Endata's price with Brand Radar **plus** the hours it would take someone to research and write those answers. Ahrefs notes its prices may vary by region, so check its site; Endata's current plans are on the [pricing page](https://endata.com/pricing).

## Can you use Endata and Brand Radar together?

Yes. For a team that already pays for Ahrefs, the pairing is natural: use Brand Radar to see the wide picture, which topics you are absent from and which pages assistants cite, and use Endata to produce the sourced answers and keep them current as the news changes.

For a business without a marketing team, start smaller. Run the free Endata report, publish answers to the questions it finds, and consider a database the size of Brand Radar once there is enough about you on the web for it to have something to count. If you only want a quick free look from Ahrefs first, see [Endata's free report vs. Ahrefs' free AI Visibility Checker](https://endata.com/compare/ahrefs-ai-visibility-checker).

## What Endata does not do

A comparison is only useful if it is honest about both sides. Endata does not:

- keep a database of prompts you can search for any brand;
- track prompts daily, or track hundreds of them;
- measure citations, cited pages, ranking position, sentiment or prompt volume;
- cover Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI;
- do keyword or backlink research, or audit your website's technical setup;
- promise that an assistant will recommend you. What an assistant says is its own decision; Endata makes sure there is a clear, sourced answer for it to find.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Endata an Ahrefs Brand Radar alternative?

For measurement alone, no: Brand Radar covers more platforms, far more prompts and more metrics. Endata is an alternative if what you want is the result, published answers to the questions AI assistants leave you out of, without hiring writers to act on a dashboard.

### Which is better for a small or local business?

Usually Endata. Brand Radar's index is built from popular Google searches, so a small brand may appear in few of its prompts, and acting on the data takes a writer. Endata writes six questions for your own buyers, shows who was named, and from $49 a month researches, drafts and publishes the answers for your approval.

### Which is better for an SEO team or a large brand?

Usually Brand Radar, especially if the team already works in Ahrefs. Share of voice, cited pages and a searchable index of AI answers give analysts and writers precise direction. Some teams add Endata to produce and maintain the answer pages themselves.

### Which AI assistants does each one cover?

Endata tests ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini through their official APIs with web search on. Brand Radar covers Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Ahrefs' help center says Claude is available for custom prompts only, at eight checks per update, and that new Grok data is temporarily unavailable.

### Does Brand Radar write or publish content?

Ahrefs' Brand Radar pages describe tracking, benchmarking and finding content gaps, not drafting or publishing answers. Ahrefs offers content tools as separate products. In Endata, drafting, publishing and sharing are part of the same product as the report.

### How much does Ahrefs Brand Radar cost?

Ahrefs includes 5 tracked AI prompts with Lite ($129 a month), 10 with Standard ($249) and 20 with Advanced ($449). Extra custom prompt packages are $50, $100 and $250 a month. The AI index is an add-on at $199 a month per platform or $699 a month for all platforms. Ahrefs says prices may vary by region; check its site for current ones.

### How fresh is the data in each?

Endata asks the assistants live when a report runs, then again each month on a paid plan. In Brand Radar, custom prompts run daily, weekly or monthly as you choose; the prebuilt index refreshes AI Overviews every few days and the chatbots once a month, according to Ahrefs' help center.

### Can an agency use either for clients?

Both can. Brand Radar has no cap on the brands you research, which suits audits and pitches. Endata's Agency plan gives each client its own workspace and newsroom inside an app carrying the agency's name and logo; see [Endata for agencies](https://endata.com/agencies).
