# Sumitomo Electric to build £350M power cable factory in Scottish Highlands

Sumitomo Electric UK Power Cables Ltd (SEUK) will build a £350 million high-voltage power cable factory near the Port of Nigg in Easter Ross, Scotland. The project received £24.5 million in public funding and is expected to create around 330 jobs, with 156 manufacturing jobs on site. Planning approval was granted on 17 January 2024.
