# Avantium starts construction of world's first commercial FDCA plant in Delfzijl

Avantium has reached financial close and started construction of its FDCA Flagship Plant in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The plant will produce 5 kilotonnes of FDCA per year, the key building block for PEF polymer. The project is funded by a €90 million debt package and equity from Worley and the Groningen Consortium.
